Headed to Alberta: Gear List

Untitled photo

While the excitement of being in San Diego still hasn't worn off,  in less than 24 hours I'll be trading ocean and sand for mountains and snow! Tomorrow morning I'll be tossing my boots on  and headed to the San Diego Airport to catch a flight up to Alberta, Canada to shoot a new timelapse. I couldn't be more excited work with Travel Alberta again and have more time to explore their beautiful province. I'll be starting off in Banff and then heading up to visit this years Dark Sky Festival in Jasper! Cross your fingers that I run in to Chris Hadfield while I'm there!

Capturing night sky timelapses can be a very time consuming process. so I'll be doing my best to make the most of my time in the parks. With this in mind, I'll be shooting with two different camera setups.  A 10 second timelapse sequence can take up to 3 hours to capture at night, so having a second setup will allow me to find a second vantage point to shoot without having to wait. I've made a list of the gear that I'll be bringing with me below.

Nikon D810 Camera Body

Nikon D800E Camera Body

(2) Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 Camera Lens

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 Camera Lens

Dynamic Perception Stage 1 Timelapse Slider

(2) Remote Shutter Release

5 Extra Camera Batteries

(2) Headlamps

Flashlight

TONS of extra memory cards

Laptop w/external hard drive to backup images

I'll be visiting right before the New Moon occurs, so the stars should be absolutely incredible over the mountainous landscapes. With no Moon lighting up the foreground, the unspoiled dark skies of Banff and Jasper National Park will be on full display. It will truly be a stargazers dream and I can't wait to share it with everyone. Follow along while I'm there through all of the links below -
